Calling all residents of Downtown LA, Pasadena, Eagle Rock, and the Greater Eastside! You know that hour-plus after-work commute to the Westside that inspires fantasies of jet packs and private helicopters? You can now reclaim hours of your life and still take the Writers’ Program courses you know and love by enrolling in one of the fabulous courses offered at our Figueroa Courtyard location, in the heart of Downtown LA.

If you’re gun shy about taking a course off campus and want to check out the facilities (and take advantage of a 10% discount), please join us at the UCLA Extension Open House at Figueroa Courtyard this coming Tuesday, March 20th. Held from 5:30-8pm, the event will feature six presentations and panel discussions on topics as varied as Building Your Personal Brand and Patient Advocacy. For you writers, there’s Getting Your Creative Writing Published, a three instructor panel featuring short fiction writer Edan Lepucki, memoirist and nonfiction writer Alison Singh Gee, and novelist Eduardo Santiago. Bringing decades of collective experience, they’ll help you learn to be your own advocate, develop a winning strategy, and write quality work.

In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to chat with Writers’ Program advisors about all of our course offerings, including those held on campus and online, register for most classes at a 10% discount, and win fun raffle prizes. Did we mention there will be free parking and cookies?

The following Writers’ Program courses will be offered at Figueroa Courtyard this spring:

Novel Writing I: Writing the First Novel with Leslie Schwartz

The Art of Creative Nonfiction with Alison Singh Gee

Answering the Muse: A Workshop for Aspiring Creative Writers with Kim Krizan

Writing the First Screenplay I with Kim Krizan

Beginning Writing for the Half-Hour Spec Comedy: Building the Story and the Outline with Cynthia Greenburg
