Former student Taneeka Bourgeois-daSilva has won the 2015 National Indie Excellence Award in Children’s Fiction-Chapter Books for Broccoli Chronicles, which follows Myrtle Beckle and her quest to cure cancer through broccoli. Broccoli Chronicles also received Honorable Mention for Juvenile Fiction in Foreword Reviews’ 2014 INDIEFAB Awards.

Taneeka thanks Lynn Hightower for providing a foundation for her storytelling. “Lynn helped me to understand the structure of a novel and the basis for a good story. I am grateful for her expertise, knowledge, and compassion. I recommend the Writers’ Program to all aspiring writers.”

Congratulations, Taneeka!
