Instructor Statement:

The hook. Every great story starts with a hook: an idea that grabs hold of you and won’t let go. It’s your job as writer to turn that hook into a story—with a fully realized world, with characters that transform, and with action that makes the reader want to hang on for the entire ride. My job is to help you create the clearest, most compelling story you can. We’ll focus on how to make the strongest possible choices for setting, character, plot, and narrative voice all toward fulfilling one goal: to serve the story. Together, we’ll work to master this lofty notion of “story” boldly and bravely, but also with respect, humor, and our authentic voices.
