Novelist and screenwriter whose 11 books include the novels The Producer’s Daughter (Crooked Lane Books, 2015) and The Dead Hollywood Moms Society, which was adapted into a Hallmark Channel movie. Ms. Maracotta’s books have been translated into nine languages, and include bestsellers in both hardcover and mass market paperback.
I think one of life’s greatest joys is a crackling good novel, the kind that keeps you reading way past your bedtime, even if it means under the covers by light of a Kindle. For those of us who have the itch to write such a book, the prospect of taking the plunge and beginning it can be as daunting as it is exhilarating. My goal then is simple: to help you leap past those daunting aspects and get you started with the all-important first pages of what can truly become a compelling work of fiction. I aim in my class to foster an atmosphere of sturdy support for creativity; for constructive criticism from myself and fellow classmates that’s uninfected by ridicule; and for sharing more than a few good laughs. Let’s work hard, let’s be productive, and let’s have some fun.
