We love to hear how students are doing, especially when the subject line of their e-mail reads: “Sold a Book!”

Longtime Writers’ Program student Donna Sozio‘s humorous book, Never Trust a Man in Alligator Loafers, was published by Citadel Press September 25th. The book teaches women to judge a man by his shoes to see if he’s good dating material. Donna has taken such courses as Novel Writing V: A Continuing Writer’s Workshop and Magic Realism. She says, “I want to give kudos to my teachers Les Plesko and María Amparo Escandón. Les consistently guided me to discover my strengths as a writer. He always raised the bar and caliber of my unique style. While María Amparo Escandón showed me how to infuse my words with magic. Now that I’m published, I still intend to take their classes and continue to learn from them.”

If you have a success story, we want to hear about it! Write to writers@uclaextension.edu.
