Stuart Beattie, screenwriter and former UCLA Extension student, was called to duty this August as co-writer for the upcoming feature based on the popular Hasbro action figure: G.I. Joe.

Long before Beattie’s big break on such Hollywood hit-makers as Collateral and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, he was taking courses at UCLA Extension, both in the Writers’ Program and Entertainment Studies and Performing Arts. He took screenwriting courses, such as Writing the Romantic Comedy; The Art of Pitching: Story Development Workshop and the Business of Screenwriting: Concept to Contract.

The film is currently in pre-production with a release date set in 2009, but with the Writers Strike still in full effect, dates are subject to change.
