A few years ago, Jeff Sherratt was just another aspiring novelist. Then he signed up for the UCLA Extension Writers’ Program, and under the encouragement and guidance of his instructor Claire Carmichael, was able to raise his expectations to include hopes of publishing. “It’s because of her priceless advice and inspiration that I’ll soon be a bonafide published author.”

This February, Echelon Press will publish Sherratt’s book, The Brimstone Murders.

Having the support to continue his dream was what Sherratt needed to complete the project and seek publication. “When I write, Claire Carmichael’s voice rings in my mind with words I first heard while taking her UCLA Extension Writers’ Program course. ‘Oh no Jeff, you can do better than that…’ It’s because of that voice, those words, and her encouragement, pushing me to my limit that I’m a mystery writer with a book deal.”

Congratulations Jeff!
