The New Short Fiction Series, Los Angeles’ only live literary “magazine”, which presents fresh new voices in an innovative spoken word format, will present Claudia, written by former Writers’ Program James Kirkwood Award winner in Creative Writing Scott Doyle.
Scott has taken a variety of courses within the Writers’ Program and even now as a published writer he continues to take our courses as a way to practice his craft.
Writers’ Program instructor Lou Mathews says of his former student’s work, “Scott Doyle has created a contrary, complex woman with intellect, vitality and conflicting sets of emotions, sometimes self-serving, sometimes self-sacrificing. She is human, she is genuine, she is infuriating. I cherish and talk back to these stories.”
This performance features spoken word artist Sally Shore, with guest cast Deborah Geffner (All That Jazz, Grey’s Anatomy), David St. James (Monk) and Robert Standley (Invasion’s Major Jim Brook, The Gatherers).
The reading takes place this Friday, September 12, 2008 at 8:00 p.m. at the Beverly Hills Public Library Auditorium, 444 N. Rexford Drive, Beverly Hills. For more excerpts and more information visit: litscribbler.wordpress.com/.
Congratulations on this latest project, Scott!
