Monologues from Noel Alumit’s one-man show The Rice Room: Scenes from a Bar have been anthologized in Embodying Asian American Sexualities (Lexington, December 2008). The monologues, about two gay Asian men who see and comment on each other, addresses internal racism and homophobia. “Embodying Asian American Sexualities,” David L. Eng of the University of Pennsylvania explains, “forges a new intellectual frontier for critical race and queer studies.”

Noel teaches Introduction to Fiction Writing and Creating Memorable Characters and Dialogue, and says that “the best part of working in the Writers’ Program is the joy I get when I run into old students. My classes helped students form support networks for their creativity. I’m happy about that.”
