Creative Writing Student DeAnna Cameron has just published her first novel, The Belly Dancer. DeAnna, a belly dancer for the past twenty years, tells the story of the Egyptian dancers who arrived in America during the late 19th century and challenged Victorian mores.
“I’ve learned so much from the UCLA Extension Writers’ Program novel-writing courses I’ve attended, and I found myself referring back to those lessons again and again as I worked on The Belly Dancer manuscript. I’m especially grateful for the support and encouragement of instructors Phyllis Gebauer, Caroline Leavitt, Lisa Teasley and Susan Taylor Chehak. These women were generous with their help and praise, and also set an excellent example as accomplished writers in their own right.”
Congratulations DeAnna, we look forward to reading it!
