Instructor Les Plesko, who has taught fiction and novel writing for the Writers’ Program since 1995, recently published Slow Lie Detector, a story of love and filmmaking in the heart of Death Valley. Les describes it as “a glimpse into the fevered career of itinerant auteur Maximilian Echs and his muse and they traverse an ever-shifting perceptual landscape searching for something like a perfect ending.”

“The Writers Program gave me my start as a novelist, and every page of this book was written as part of the exercises I’ve had the pleasure to share with my students.”
