Ron Darian, who completed his Certificate in Creative Writing with an emphasis in fiction earlier this year, was recently published in the winter edition of Fiction International, Issue 42: The Artist in Wartime. His short story, “Boys,” is a coming of age tale about a boy and his shotgun, and is one of several pieces he has published recently.

Ron has taken sixteen Writers’ Program courses over the last several years, including Introduction to Fiction Writing; Novel Writing I, II, and III; and The Art of the Short Story.

“The most important step I took when I decided to try my hand at creative fiction was the UCLA Extension Writers’ Program. I feel exceptionally fortunate to have had teachers like Judith Prager, Harry Youtt, Stephen Cooper, Karen Palmer, Les Plesko, Maureen Connell, and Paul Mandelbaum (to name just a few), who encourage students to forge their own creative path, and love doing it.”
