2009 has been a big year for creative writing instructor Diana Raab. Her collection of poetry, Dear Anais: My Life in Poems for You, which won the 2008 Reader Views Literary Award for Poetry, has also won the 2009 Next Generation Indie Book Award for Poetry and the 2009 Allbooks Review Editors’ Choice Award for Poetry. In addition, her book Regina’s Closet: Finding my Grandmother’s Secret Journal, which won the Allbooks Review Editor’s Choice Award and the 2008 National Indie Excellence Award (NIEA) for Memoir (and placed as a finalist or was nominated for several other awards), was named the 2009 Mom’s Choice Gold Recipient for Adult Nonfiction.
“The best part about working in the Writers’ Program is the coming together of a community of fabulous writing instructors and enthusiastic students. The students arrive in class with a world of ideas to write about—whether for healing or publication—and it’s wonderful to help them navigate through the various stages.”
