Online student Ted Chiles was nominated for a Pushcart Prize by the staff of Vestal Review for his flash fiction piece “A Recursive Love Affair.” Published in the winter 2010 issue, the piece is a modern take on Alfred Lord Tennyson’s “Tis’ better to have loved and lost/ Than never to have loved at all.”

Ted has taken a variety of online writing courses including The Art of the Short Story, Flash Fiction, and Magical Realism.

David Borofka’s Flash Fiction class helped me understand the intricate and varied styles of flash fiction. His thoughtful critiques along with my classmates’ strengthened my work. I have since published several of the flashes worshopped in David’s class.”

Congratulations, Ted!
