Writers’ Program instructor Victoria Zackheim recently released a new publication, He Said What?! Women Write About Moments When Everything Changed. Edited by Victoria, the collection includes contributions by Writers’ Program authors Barbara Abercrombie, Caroline Leavitt and Clea Simon.
He Said What?! features twenty-six stories from an all-female writing cast. Each story focuses on a few simple words – good or bad – that a man said to them to completely alter their lives. I love you. The meeting ran late. I want a divorce. One little word, one casual lie, one devastating announcement—and our lives are turned upside down forever,” says the jacket cover.
Victoria says, “I’ve always enjoyed teaching my Personal Essay courses in the Writers’ Program, but it’s only recently that I’ve understood how much my teaching has affected my own writing and editing. Having just sold my fifth anthology, Exit Laughing, 24 Authors Writing About Humor and Death, I see how my lectures and the line edits and evaluations I give to every student essay have enriched my work.”
