Creative Writing student Conor Teevan’s short story, “They Sit Like This,” was recently accepted for publication by Potomac Review. It’s about a family who goes out to eat the night before Mom goes into the hospital for an experimental bone marrow transplant.

Conor has taken a variety of fiction courses and says, “I’ve studied with a number of instructors in the Writers’ Program including Paul Mandelbaum, Eve La Salle Caram, Judith Simon Prager, and Harry Youtt, who have been very encouraging. This particular story was workshopped in Paul Mandelbaum’s advanced short story course, and the feedback I received there was helpful in getting my story into its final form.”

His best piece of advice for other students submitting to literary journals is easy: “Submit.”

Great news, Conor! (And great advice, too.)
