Screenwriting instructor Alan Kirschenbaum’spilot, “Friend Me” was picked up by CBS! The series focuses on twenty-something best friends who move from Bloomington, Indiana to Los Angeles to begin their exciting new lives working at Groupon. The leads will be Super Bad co-star Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Nicholas Braun.
Alan shares this about his latest work:
“The lesson to be learned from this particular project is one that comes up again and again as a writer, which is that you have to have tremendous belief in your idea, and be willing to back up that faith by doing the hard work. My writing partner on this, Ajay Sahgal, and I pitched this show to one network in the fall of 2010. They passed. In the spring of 2011, we decided to write it on spec, which took months. That fall, we sold the script to that same network. Maybe we did an exceptionally bad job of pitching it, or a good job of writing it, but we didn’t take “no” for an answer because we believed that this was a funny, compelling, timely idea.”
Congratulations, Alan… we’re excited to watch it!
