Our own Amy Friedman will be interviewed by Katie Couric on the January 22nd episode of Katie. Amy will be discussing her memoir, Desperado’s Wife. Says Amy, “Desperado’s Wife is the story of my seven-year marriage to the man I met when I was working as a newspaper columnist and walked into a federal penitentiary to learn how prisons work. Although the marriage eventually dissolved, this is the story of love and empathy that strained to survive every obstacle, inside prison and out.” Originally excerpted in the New York Times Modern Love column and in Salon.com, Amy’s memoir is currently available on Amazon.
“I’ve been teaching in the Writers’ Program for a decade now, and each term I am stunned by the talent and dedication of the students who walk into my classroom. As if that weren’t enough to entice me back, my fellow teachers are brilliant writers and exquisite colleagues.”
Congratulations, Amy! We look forward to the interview!
Amy will be teaching “Writing Memoir and Personal Essay” this spring.
