Writers’ Program student Natashia Deon was recently included in LA Weekly’s People 2013 list, alongside LA icons like George Takei and Poet Laureate Eloise Klein Healy. After quitting her job as an insurance defense attorney, Natashia took Writers’ Program classes, was awarded a 2010 PEN USA Emerging Voices fellowship, and participated in the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference. Now she runs her own nonprofit reading series called Dirty Laundry Lit: “I want to celebrate everybody who walks on that stage. I want it to be a party in their honor.” Read the full article on Natashia here.
