Writers’ Program student Mariya Taher, who we’ve written about before here and here for her short story publications, will begin her MFA program at Lesley University starting in June. She is the recipient of a School of Arts and Social Sciences Creative Writing Merit Scholarship.

Like most of the other schools Mariya applied to, Lesley is a low-residency MFA program. She was also accepted to and received the Privateer Graduate Scholarship Award to the University of New Orleans, was accepted to Southern New Hampshire University, and was placed on the wait-list for the traditional MFA program at Emerson University.

A certificate program graduate, Mariya honed her fiction chops, like many others, at the Writers’ Program. “I loved every class so much and I really credit the program for helping me have my first story published.”

We are so proud of her and know she will thrive in her MFA program. Congratulations, Mariya!
