Congratulations are in order for student Linda Fondren. Linda’s story is an inspiring one of personal and community empowerment. “After having transformed my life from poverty and disempowerment to success, I went back to my hometown of Vicksburg, Mississippi, and created a movement that helped the people there shed a collective 15,000 pounds.”

If that wasn’t accomplishment enough, Linda took those experiences and turned them into a book called Shape Up Sisters which was recently published by Rodale Books. Linda describes the book as “a get healthy prescription for everyday women with jobs, families and real-life obstacles.”

Linda thanks Writers’ Program instructor Samantha Dunn for helping to put her journey into words. “She helped me become a writer and craft a book that would not exist without her.”

Congratulations, Linda!
