Angela Featherstone, who we’ve featured before here, has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize for her memoir excerpt “God Said No.” She credits the Writers’ Program with helping launch her writing career. “My introduction to the Writers’ Program was Shawna Kenney‘s Writing the Personal Essay class in the winter of 2013. In this class I wrote and workshopped a personal essay that is now becoming a memoir. The support, critique, and sense of community I get from the Writers’ Program (I’ve since taken more classes) has made a writer of me.” Angela is also one of our nominees for the 2015 Allegra Johnson Prize in Memoir Writing.

Congratulations, Angela! We can’t wait to hear what happens next with your memoir.

If you have a success story, we want to hear about it! Write to writers@uclaextension.edu.
