Exciting news for E. Katherine Kottaras, whose YA novel, How to be Brave, will be published later this year by St. Martin’s Press. Her second novel (currently untitled) is forthcoming in 2016. She describes How to be Brave as “an emotional contemporary YA novel about love, loss, and having the courage to chase the life you truly want.”
Katherine says the Writers’ Program helped her conquer her fear of sharing her writing. “When I took my first introductory creative writing class with the WP more than ten years ago, I desperately wanted to write, but I was afraid to share my work. Since then, I have taken classes in short story, flash fiction, personal essay, and young adult fiction. I credit the Writers’ Program and its teachers, especially Noel Alumit, Victoria Zackheim, and Beth Ann Bauman, for giving me the space to explore my voice and for encouraging me to keep writing.”
Congratulations, Katherine!
