We’ve written about Greta Heinemann before, first when she won 1stplace in the 2013 UCLA Extension Television Writing Competition TV Specs category for her Sons of Anarchy script and 2nd place in the TV Pilots category for her original Valleywood, then when she was selected for the CBS Writers Mentoring Program. Now, we are more thrilled than ever to announce that Greta was selected for the Humanitas Prize’s New Voices initiative AND—wait for it—has been staffed on NCIS New Orleans! This is Greta’s first staff writer gig, and we couldn’t be more proud.

It was Greg Elliot’s Beginning Writing for the 1-Hour Spec Drama: Building the Story and the Outline and Writing the 1-Hour Spec Drama Script that set Greta on her path towards a writing career. “[Greg’s classes] taught me the basics of writing for television–understanding structure and setting up stories–and laid the foundation of what I’m now lucky enough to do every day. Signing up for Writers’ Program classes was one of the most crucial steps in taking my writing to the next level. ”

If you have a success story, we want to hear about it! Write to writers@uclaextension.edu.
