2014-15 Writers’ Program Scholarship recipient Tanya Adams has been accepted to the University of Tampa low-residency MFA in Creative Writing program. Tanya says she chose Tampa “because the work required from a low-residency program while living in the real world mimics the true life of a writer, not insulated in university life.” Tanya was first encouraged to apply to MFA programs by her Introduction to Fiction Writing instructor Cary Groner, and included stories she wrote in his class in her MFA application.

“My experience at the Writers’ Program has been wonderful,” says Tanya. “I’ve had gifted instructors who have helped me develop my writing, like Caroline Leavitt (what I learned about structure in her class has been invaluable), Kris Neri (who helped me expand on the lessons I learned in Caroline’s class), and Alyx Dellamonica (her Novel Writing I is where I learned to come up with a viable novel idea and get the courage to write one).”

Congratulations, Tanya!
