UCLA Extension is officially closed until January 4, 2016!
As 2015 draws to a close, we remember what a good year it was for the Writers’ Program. Highlights include naming the first Allegra Johnson Prize recipient; launching and naming the recipients of the inaugural Claire Carmichael Scholarship Program in Novel Writing; and exhibiting at Story Expo, Comic Con, Binder Con, and LitCrawl. We also hosted the 19th annual Writers Studio and the 22nd annual Publication Party. And oh yeah, we offered 400 writing courses, 33 of which were brand, spanking new!
Of what are we most proud this year? It’s our talented students of course! In 2015, one or more of them…
- got staffed on major television shows
- had a movie produced
- created a web series
- got representation
- got accepted into various MFA programs
- published numerous novels, short stories, self-help guides, and memoirs
- made the New York Times Best Seller list
- was named a Pulitzer Prize finalist in fiction
Why not make 2016 the year YOU join our long list of student successes? Take the first step now by signing up for a writing course in winter. Yes, we’re closed, but you can still register online at uclaextension.edu.
Still not sure where to begin? Then mark your calendar for Monday, January 4, when our advisors will be back in the office and ready to answer your calls and emails. Whether you’re interested in screenwriting, long fiction, short fiction, poetry, or playwriting, the Writers’ Program can help you meet all your writing goals in the new year.
Happy Holidays to All!
