It’s out with the old and in with the new…website, that is! UCLA Extension recently rolled out a brand spanking new site and we hope you like it. Of course, we understand that it can sometimes be tricky making the transition from one site to another, so we’ve created this handy dandy cheat sheet to guarantee you’ll be an expert in no time flat.

Here’s How to Access the Student Portal:

At the top right-hand corner, select “Login,” then click “Student Login.” Please note that your login information on this website is NOT the same as your Canvas login. If you do not remember your login information, click “Forgot Username,” or “Forgot Password.” And if all else fails, contact us at writers@uclaextension.edu and we’ll lend a hand.

Once you’re logged in, you’ll be able to access the list of current and previous classes you took at UCLA Extension, grades and all. You can choose to change your grading status (Letter Grade, P/NP, or No Credit), or drop a class, and so much more.

Here’s How to Find the Course That’s Right for You:

While the search bar on the home page may look tempting, here’s your best option to view all of the Writers’ Program’s courses in one fell swoop:

  1. Click “Browse” on the top left-hand corner
  2. Click “View All”
  3. Scroll all the way down, and then click “Writers’ Program”

Ta Dah! You should see a list of subcategories, each one of which will lead you to the various courses that are currently available.

Once you select a class, you will be able to view the course description and details. On the right side of the page, you’ll see the several different options available for that specific course, such as whether it’s being offered online or onsite (it will say classroom), and with which of our fabulous instructors each section is offered.

Once you decide which class best fits your needs, click “Add to Cart” and follow the instructions. And that’s all there is to it!

Here’s a few tips to keep in mind if you run into any “error” messages while trying to enroll in a class:

  1. Google Chrome and Firefox work more smoothly than Safari.
  2. Enroll using a computer/laptop instead of the trendy tablet/smartphone since the website uses java.
  3. If you’re looking for Canvas, which is where you can access specific course materials and communicate with your classmates, click here.
  4. To find the PDF version of our catalog course offerings, go to our Writers’ Program website, and go to Courses > Course Listings.

The new website may seem daunting at first but we know that after a few tries, you’ll be able to maneuver through it like nobody’s business. However, if you still need a little help from a friend, don’t be shy about calling or writing the Contact person listed on each course page. We’re just one phone call or email away, and we’re always happy to help.

Happy Writing!
