Online creative writing instructor Caroline Leavitt has a new book out! Her 11th novel, Cruel Beautiful World came out in October through Algonquin Books and is an Indie Next Pick, a Best Book from Real Simple, Lit Hub and, and has raves from The San Francisco Chronicle, The Boston Globe, The Washington Post, NPR’s Weekend Edition with Scott Simon, Entertainment Weekly Radio, The Minneapolis Star Tribune, Marie Claire, People, New York Newsday and more. Caroline describes Cruel Beautiful World as “set against the tumultuous late 60s and early 70s, it’s the story of a 16-year-old girl’s disappearance and her older sister’s struggle to find her.”

Caroline explains why she enjoys teaching online creative writing for the Writers’ Program: “I love working with UCLA Extension students because they take such risks and it’s so amazing to see an unshaped work get polished into gold!”

Congratulations, Caroline, and we look forward to reading Cruel Beautiful World!
