Former student Lindsey Lee Johnson’s debut novel, The Most Dangerous Place on Earth, was published by Random House in January 2017. The book was named a Barnes & Noble Discover Pick, an American Booksellers Association Indie Next Pick, a Book of the Month Club Pick, and People Magazine’s Book of the Week. The New York Times called it “an alarming, compelling and coolly funny debut novel.”

Of her time at the Writers’ Program, she says, “I was fortunate to study novel writing with Karen Palmer, Mark Haskell Smith, and Seth Greenland. As a young writer, I found much needed inspiration and wise guidance from my instructors and my classmates. Many of us are still in touch and publishing books, years after our workshops came to an end! I am proud to be a part of the Writers’ Program community, and grateful that we have this wonderful resource for writers in Los Angeles.”

Congratulations on your success, Lindsey! If you have a success story, we want to hear about it! Click here.
