Instructor Laurel Ollstein’s play, They Promised Her the Moon, is premiering at the Old Globe in San Diego, CA on April 11th. The play centers on Jerrie Cobb, the first American woman to be tested for space flight. Laurel says of the play, “They Promised Her the Moon is a true story famed about pilot Jerrie Cobb, an extraordinary woman – an almost astronaut – a bush pilot in the Amazon for over 40 years. A story we should know. A woman who was not afraid to dream big.”

Laurel speaks further about this project on our next episode of The Write Process, releasing Friday, April 12th!

Of her time teaching in the Writers’ Program Laurel says, “I’ve taught at UCLA Extension for over 10 years – taught playwriting, screenwriting and different creative writing courses. I love the students! Students at UCLA Extension have stories to tell and it’s always a joy to hear them!”

Congratulations, Laurel! If you have a success story, we want to hear about it! Click here.
