Writers’ Program Certificate alum Ron L. Dowell’s short story collection was a finalist for the 2020 Big Moose Prize and a Chestnut Review Stubborn Artist Contest semi-finalist. His story, “Bruised,” from the collection won the 2020 Tulip Tree Merit Prize and is featured in the Stories That Need to Be Told 2020 anthology.

Of his experience in the Writers’ Program, Ron says, “Most of what I know about writing short stories I learned from Colette Sartor, Paul Mandelbaum, and Lou Mathews, among others, and I’m thankful for the time spent in the Writers’ Program.”
