Former student Kristin Griffith recently published her debut memoir. “Publishing my first full-length book, Rush: Memoir of a Gay Sorority Girl, has been a dream of mine for almost 10 years and it just released on paperback and eBook versions! Taking place in college, this story is about the universal desire to be seen, understood, and accepted as our truest self and I hope it can make a positive impact, especially with the LGBTQ+ community,” Kristin says.
Of her experience in the Writers’ Program, she recalls, “I took my first memoir writing course almost 10 years ago and that was the inception of my book idea. Alison Singh-Gee, who taught my course, heard first drafts of scenes that became part of my book, and gave me the encouragement and confidence I needed to know I had a compelling story and could write it! This course truly changed my life and I’m beginning work on my next book!”
