While we’re still being cautious of everyone’s health and safety, the Writers’ Program wouldn’t be who we are if we weren’t creating opportunities for writers to learn, connect, and build community. Here are a few of our upcoming virtual events for spring & summer:

Virtual Publication Party – June 9th, 6pm PT
After having to cancel the 2020 Pub Party, we’re returning this year in a  virtual format. This FREE annual event will showcase instructors who have published work this year reading excerpts, with a virtual hangout after the readings.

YA Symposium – August 14th – September 5th
Our 2020 Symposium went virtual for the first time, to great success. This year, we’re building on that success and including three live panels in addition to prerecorded ones, two networking events, and a keynote by NY Times bestselling author Aiden Thomas. See details for what you can access when, and how, here: https://writers.uclaextension.edu/events/ya-symposium/

WP NOW Professional Development Events
One of the many benefits of being a WP NOW member is access to exclusive professional development seminars. Our two upcoming seminars focus on screenwriting and the benefit of workshopping in building a career, and crafting samples and proposals for funding and pitching your projects.

Inside the Biz – April 18, 11 am – 1 pm PT

Writing an Effective Sample and Project Proposal for Funding – July 10, 12pm – 2pm PT

Low-Cost One-Day Seminars
The Writers’ Program frequently offers one-day seminars for $30 on a variety of writing and professional subjects. Spring topics include script formatting, submitting to literary magazines, and writing effective query letters. You can view more info on these offerings here: https://writers.uclaextension.edu/reduced-priced-courses/

UCLAxOPEN Seminars
As part of an institution-wide initiative to offer free seminars to students and the public, the Writers’ Program continues to offer FREE seminars each quarter. For seminars specific to our program, space is limited and registration opens two weeks prior to the event date. This helps ensure that those who sign up are committed to attend these live offerings which are not recorded. You can check out the full list of Spring opportunities for the Writers’ Program and all of UCLA Extension here: https://www.uclaextension.edu/uclaxopen

In person events may have to wait until 2022 (we’ll see!), but stay tuned to our website, blog, and social channels (@writersprogram on Twitter & Instagram) for updates and info on all our happenings!
