Welcome new Writers’ Program instructor Robert Birdwell! Robert is teaching a section of Copyediting I (reg# 384895) in our asynchronous Online format, starting April 6 this Spring. He sat down with us to offer some insight into creative life and his upcoming course.
What sparks your creativity?
Creativity, for me, comes from the situations in life where I must do things I’m afraid of.
What do you look for in a good story?
A blend of realism and heroism.
What do you find most inspiring about editing as part of the writing/publishing process?
I find it most inspiring to help others express their voices and accomplish their purposes.
What excites you most about teaching for the Writers’ Program?
I’m helping others to learn important work and progress in their careers.
What do you hope your students get from your course(s)?
I hope that students come away with a sense of editing best practices as well as a sense of being one’s own advocate in the editing and publishing industry.
Thank you to Robert for taking time to share with us. Look for more instructor interviews coming soon!
