Screenwriting instructor Koji Steven Sakai currently has not one but TWP films in production. 
He says, “I’m super excited and honored that I have two films currently in production, Damaged, featuring Samuel Jackson, which is being shot over in Scotland, and, Boneyard, featuring Mel Gibson and 50 Cent, which is being shot in Las Vegas. Both are true crime stories, one of my favorite genres (right behind horror)! Boneyard is based on an actual serial killing in Albuquerque.
Of his experience teaching in the Writers’ Program he says, “My favorite thing about teaching at UCLA Extension is showing that writing a screenplay isn’t this mysterious process that only a few people are privy to. Once you understand structure, formatting, and character arcs, anyone can do it. I love pulling back the curtains for people and showing them how to write their own scripts.”
