Instructor Statement:
Contemporary filmmaking is vast and varied. Our culture is producing content on an unprecedented scale. Formats are constantly changing. What remains consistent in all this change is the power of storytelling, which starts with you — the writer. I believe writers should have a firm understanding of dramatic storytelling before venturing into the field and trying something new. We will be looking at films from across the globe and discussing them in detail to understand how they work. We will be reading books on screenwriting and learning by doing — by being rigorous and challenging ourselves because we want our work to be the best it can be. I hope to help you on your way so you can develop the tools you need to follow your vision and tell remarkable stories.
