Instructor Statement:

One of my all-time favorite movies is Big, the story of a boy who becomes trapped in his adult body. Big is filled with great comedy, but more importantly, it’s emotionally compelling—you care deeply about the hero’s journey, and you believe every moment. My goal is to help each student develop a story that is not only funny, but is also real, heartfelt, and emotional.

Our Students Say it Best!

“Steve Mazur is a pro. He helped me understand comedy on a deeper level by approaching it, first and foremost, as a story with an emotional core. I gained valuable insights into breaking a story and discovering not only what makes a film funny but what makes it resonate. — Writers’ Program Student
