Instructor Statement:

The effect that a workshop can have on you as a writer is sometimes immeasurable. I can honestly say that if it weren’t for the first playwriting class I took at Extension, I would have never gone on to get my MFA from UCLA or spend four years at The Mark Taper Forum as a founding member of The Mentor Playwrights Project. Therefore, I approach every workshop with the hope of energizing my students to do their best work and to realize their own artistic goals. At the heart of my teaching “philosophy” is the important balance between that which can be taught—some call this craft or method—and that which can only come from a writer putting pen to page.

Our Students Say it Best!
