Elizabeth Farnum has something to celebrate: her story “Turtle Eggs” is a finalist for the Storyglossia 2007 Fiction Contest.
Farnum has taken such online courses as Writing the Short Story: Intermediate Workshop and Art of the Short Story: Advanced Workshop. “Turtle Eggs” chronicles the story of a conservation minded young woman who travels to Central American as an eco-volunteer. Her assumptions of the environment, the aspirations of the people she encounters, and her own identity are simultaneously challenged, revealing her connection to the natural world.
She thanks instructor Tod Goldberg for his guidance with the piece. “Tod’s advice regarding narrative continuity and how to take a reader backwards and forward in time was extremely helpful.”
