Student Magdalena Edwards recently published her essay, “Playing Telephone with Emily Dickinson and Paul Legault” in online literary magazine The Millions. In the piece, Magdalena explores Paul Legault’s translations of Emily Dickinson’s poems into contemporary English.

“My experience taking Writers’ Program courses with Barbara Abercrombie has been phenomenal. I keep her words of wisdom close, and I practice her 5-minute writing exercises often. I always remember her advice about the day-to-day rhythms of writing: do it every day, even if it’s just for 15 minutes; don’t go to lunch, don’t write emails, don’t surf the internet, don’t make excuses, write every day; keep your writing time as an appointment with yourself and don’t break it.”

Congratulations, Magdalena!
