If you’re anything like us, you’ve probably already started mentally drafting New Year’s resolutions…go to yoga more often, spend less time playing Candy Crush, get 8 hours of sleep a night. And if you’re really like us, by the end of January you’ll be back to your regular routine, binge watching Netflix while scrolling through pictures of cute dogs on Instagram.

Lucky for you, if your resolutions are writing related, we’ve got you covered. Between our courses, mentorships, consultations, and scholarship program, we offer everything you need to make 2015 your most productive writing year yet.

We’ll start off 2015 with a bang, with classes beginning as early as January 5th. Between creative writing and screenwriting, and our online and onsite offerings, we have something for everyone, including new classes like Understanding the Publishing Landscape: Traditional vs. Self-Publishing, Writing Experimental Fiction (Online), and Creating the 1-Hour TV Pilot and Series.

If work, family, or personal obligations make it difficult for you to make it to class each week, in February we’re holding our annual Writers Studio, four days filled with education, inspiration, and an insane amount of productivity. To quote Ana Maria Montoya, a previous Writers Studio participant, “I’ve attended the Writers Studio for two years in a row now—and it’s one of the most important gifts I give myself all year. It’s how I show my dreams that I honor them.” With options ranging from Accessing Your Stories in a Flash: A Short Fiction Writing Workshop to Writing Your First Feature Film to Writing the Young Adult Novel, there’s no shortage of ways to honor your own writing dreams.

If you want to accelerate your pace or work only on your project without the peer collaboration of a workshop, we also offer one-on-one mentorships and consultations. Mentorships, which pair you up with an instructor for four weeks of individualized feedback and guidance, are offered on an ongoing basis in novel writing, writing for children and young adults, television writing, and feature film writing, and can be repeated as many times as you like. Our consultations are designed for students who have a completed work and would like macro feedback from a professional writer. Rather than the back and forth feedback and revisions you get with a mentorship, you submit your full manuscript and the instructor responds with notes and a phone or Skype meeting. Individualized feedback has never been so easy.

Some of you may be thinking “that all sounds great, but the holidays have left me more broke than ever.” If this sounds like you, we’ve got you covered as well. In March, applications for the 2015-2016 Writers’ Program Scholarship will be available on our website. Up to ten scholars are named annually, and each recipient is given the opportunity to enroll in three full-length Writers’ Program courses during a one-year period. As 2014-15 recipient Andrea Guevara puts it, “receiving the scholarship bolsters my determination to continue improving my craft and working on the stories I am compelled to share with the world.” If finances are holding you back from pursuing your dream, check back with us in March for full application instructions.

Want even more Writers’ Program in your life? Our certificate programs in creative writing and screenwriting provide a structured course of study to help you hone in on a specific project and see it through from beginning to end. If you’re the competitive type, we also have three (!) screenwriting competitions and two instructor-nominated prizes in fiction and memoir. We also participate in several community events throughout the year.
