TV writer and former Writers’ Program student/instructor Ellen Byron can now add Lefty and Agatha Award-nominated mystery novelist to her resume. The first novel from her Cajun Country Mystery series, Plantation Shudders (Crooked Lane Books, 2015) was nominated for the 2016 Agatha Award for Best First Mystery and 2016 Lefty Award for Best Humorous Mystery. The second book in the series will be available in September 2016.

“I loved being both a teacher and student in the Writers’ Program, and look forward to doing it again in the future. The students were fantastic – smart, enthusiastic, and inspiring. And I met my television writing partner, Lissa Kapstrom, in a class I took myself, Advanced Sitcom Lab.”

Congrats, Ellen! We can’t wait to get our hands on a copy.
