A belated congratulations to student Deborah Davidson on the publication of her essay “Y Shaped Scar” which appeared in the Jewish Journal newspaper (June 2016). Deborah worked on the piece in a nonfiction class taught by Barbara Abercrombie and says it “stands as a tribute to my father, a Vietnam War veteran, and is a glimpse into some effects of PTSD and mental illness on family.” Regarding her experience with the Writers’ Program, Deborah shares the following: “My fellow students and teachers in the writing classes provided encouragement, critique and support. I am grateful for the experience.”
