Former student Gina Sorell has published her debut novel Mothers and Other Strangers (Prospect Park Books), to high praise and positive reviews from Publishers Weekly, San Francisco Book Review, Kirkus Reviews, The Toronto Star and more.

Kirkus Reviews says her novel is, “A fascinating look at a unique and fractured parent-child relationship…engaging and tense.” And Library Journal calls it “A felicitous find.”

Gina credits the UCLA Extension Writers’ Program for changing the course of her life, and introducing her to her mentor, the NYT bestselling author Caroline Leavitt, and also instructor Robert Eversz, whom she calls “incredible.”
