Former student Thuc Nguyen is currently in Round 2 The Sundance Institute Development Labs with a drama feature with a Vietnamese-American woman lead. She’s also a finalist in the InnovAsian screenwriting contest with a comedy: #MindyWuTranVersusSiliconBeach.
Of her experience in the 
Writers’ Program, Thuc says, “I was a TV writers’ assistant before UCLA Extension – and after I had a better sense of structure and met awesome people who I’m still in touch with! It was a really relaxed welcoming environment for me. I loved Dan Vining‘s classes – a lot of great world advice and how he cares about his students. He’s a cool guy to hang out with. Phil Eisner really showed me the importance of getting my work into shape and I learned to enjoy rewriting in his Rewrite Class. Karl Iglesias helped a lot with structure.”
