Instructor Shawna Kenney recently won 2nd place in the Los Angeles Press Club’s ‘Life in the Time of the Coronavirus’ essay contest. The prize came with a $500 award and publication on the Press Club’s site, “to serve as a historical document of the times.”

Of her time teaching for the Writers’ Program, Shawna says, “UCLA Extension first appeared on my radar in 2001, when I was invited as a young author to speak with classes lead by Tod Goldberg and Rachel Resnick. I returned in 2007 as an instructor fresh out of grad school and have taught here off and on ever since. Teaching the practice while nudging writers toward their dreams delights my soul to its core.”

Congratulations, Shawna! If you have a success story, we want to hear about it! Click here.
