Current Certificate student Maggie Morris had a personal essay published earlier this year. Maggie says, ““Hyena,” my personal essay published by Entropy this past April, confronts the culpability of women in the age of #metoo. Structured through manic Google search threads, my essay unravels my boundless search to make sense of the blurry moral contours of my world in the wake of losing my job after reporting a client who groped me at work.”
Of her experience in the Writers’ Program, she says, “I began this essay in Amy Friedman’s Personal Essay workshop – Amy reinforced for me how writing can uncover connections both privately inside me and outwardly by connecting with readers. Amy is the most inspiring and supportive writing teacher I’ve ever had – not only did she teach me skills of the craft, she gave me courage to write and share my work.”
