Short story specialization student LP Kindred celebrates digital publication and podcast publication this year, with Fiyah Literary Magazine in April and LeVar Burton Reads in August. Kindred was also accepted into Voices of Our Nation Arts and Clarion Foundations’ writing workshops this summer and next.
About his acceptances he says, “It’s an embarrassment of riches. Lockdown was not pleasant but this flurry of emails gave me more and more to joyously anticipate.”
When asked about his time at UCLA Extension, Kindred says, “I’m part of a critique group that met in Ben Loory‘s Short Story II. Ben’s insightful readings inspired a creative safety we carried into the real world. I’ve also found a bit of a mentor in Lou Mathews. I appreciate his candor and love of letters but I have no idea why he continues to invest in me. I simply say, ‘Thank you.'”
