Former student Charlotte Offsay is about to have her first picture book published, with more on the way. She shares, “I am excited to share that my debut picture book, The Big Beach Cleanup, will be published by Albert Whitman on March 1, 2021. The Big Beach Cleanup introduces young readers to the impact of human trash on the environment and demonstrates that a person is never too young or too small to inspire big change. My second picture book, How to Return a Monster, is releasing Fall 2021 with Beaming Books, and my third, A Grandma’s Magic, will be published by Doubleday Books for Young Readers/Penguin Random House in Spring 2022.”

Of her experience in the Writers’ Program, Charlotte says, ”I took my first very first picture book class, Writing Picture Books for Children: A Beginning Workshop, in the summer of 2017 with Sherry Shahan. It was during this class that I fell in love with writing picture books. I went on to take ‘Picture Book I’ that same fall with Terry Pierce. Both Sherry and Terry were instrumental in my writing journey. They helped set the foundation for what has evolved into a beloved passion and career. I can’t thank them both enough for their support and encouragement!”

Congratulations, Charlotte! If you have a success story, we want to hear about it! Click here.
