Former student Mary-Alice Daniel was recently awarded a huge honor. She tells us, “My first full-length collection of poems was selected as the winner of the 2022 Yale Younger Poets Prize, the longest-running poetry prize in the United States. Mass for Shut-Ins will be published by Yale University Press in April 2023.”

Of her time in the Writers’ Program Mary-Alice says, “I started seriously working on my manuscript over 10 years ago. The advanced poetry workshop I took with Suzanne Lummis helped me generate new work and develop a writing practice that guided me through a decade of productive—sometimes painful—growth in this difficult craft.”

Congratulations, Mary-Alice! If you have a success story, we want to hear about it! Click here.
